Just thought I would share this with you in case you didn’t already know. There is a place in EP called First Gear Garage and they provide a unique service….they rent 2 and 4 post lifts and bays to work on your car.
The oil filter in the GTO is caged in by the headers so I need to pull the oil stem off the side of the motor in order to get the oil filter out. I tried with the car just jacked up at home but just not enough room.
I called ahead to reserve a lift, showed up when I said I would and there was a lift waiting for me. They do all the raising and lowering of the vehicle but you do all the actual work.
The guys running it are really friendly and they have tools to do anything you could possibly need to do.
For the guy that wants to do the job himself but doesn’t have anywhere to do it or the right tools to do it this is a great option over paying hourly rates at a dealer or repair shop.
Just thought I’d share since I know there are some do it yourselfers here on this site.
I tried for 2 hours at home last year to get the oil filter out before I just took it to a dealer and had them do it, this year I tried First Gear and I spent more time letting the car cool off than I actually did working on it. Having it up on the lift made getting the oil filter out a snap!
